Coaching: profession, vocation or business opportunity?

18th May 2011

A half-day seminar exploring and shaping the future of coaching:

1.30 pm to 4.30 pm - 29th June - Nottingham Trent University

Presented in partnership with Sport Nottinghamshire and Nottingham Trent University

The way coaches, coach educators and their managers function is being affected by the numerous political and economic forces acting on sport. Meanwhile schools, clubs, governing bodies, county sport partnerships and other stakeholders are being forced to find new and effective solutions to a series of rapidly changing problems.

This seminar will explore current issues in coaching and provide numerous opportunities to share ideas with colleagues facing similar challenges to your own and learn about new solutions. Discussion will be led by three of the leading figures in sports coaching but there will be plenty of space in the programme for you to discuss what they have to say, debate what it means for you and talk about the issues affecting your work. With delegates drawn from a variety of sports and contexts, we would expect to challenge the thinking of and offer inspiration to self-aware coaches operating at UKCC Level 2 and beyond.

Key Contributors are:
John Lyle - Professor of Coachign for the University of Queensland in Brisbane
John Driscoll - Exectuive Director of Sportscoach UK
David Batch - Chief Executive of Premier Sport
